One of the most frustrating (and potentially dangerous) parts of cold weather flying is chasing your ROTAX liquid cooled engine temps using and adjusting pieces of cardboard or other material strapped to your radiator, which seems to change from day to day.

You can adjust those pieces all you want but you never seem to get it right for all flight conditions - runup - take off - cruise - approach. If your adjusted correctly for cruise flight, you are likely too cool for approach and landing, this can be a dangerous time for you and your engine as it sets you up for a cold seizure scenario, particularly if you must do an overshoot.
